Why should I use an independent auditor?

An audit should be conducted by an independent organization that does not have any conflicts. A conflict of interest may include performing services for the vendor being audited or having a consulting role in the design or negotiation of benefits. HDM is focused solely on health care auditing and does not broker insurance coverage.  No insurance company or outside company has any equity interest in HDM. HDM conducts an independent audit.

What questions should I ask to evaluate the competition?

  • Does the team actually performing the audit have experience auditing the administrators?
  • Is the company focused on working with employer groups?
  • Does the company have any conflicts of Interest? (such as having the administrator as a client, or did they design benefits.)
  • Do they review 100% of claims?
  • Does the company provide ongoing services to manage cost, risk and compliance?

Confidentiality is a concern. How will you handle this?

Our work will remain highly confidential and will be performed in accordance with the highest professional standards.  All employee/member identifiers will be removed from reports. As part of the Service Agreement, HDM signs a Business Associates agreement with you in regard to all data provided.
